- You repeat certain words like "bye" and "see" twice.
- You're an expert on which baby food flavors are the best.
- You're invited to "dance" parties where the music is as rowdy or dramatic as possible and songs change every thirty seconds.
- You answer to names like "Cakie" (or if you're my sisters... "Ammy", "Buddies", etc.)
- You can sing most of the theme song from "Calliou".
- You're awesome at decoding things like "Duh, Momma, but." (It means older nephew would like a bite of younger nephew's baby food. He's learning to say "please", but he still can't say "bite".)
- You understand that it's very dangerous to say "cracker" in front of either nephew when they aren't eating them at the moment.
- You hunt for tiny shoes almost daily.
- You know the proper distance between a cat sleeping with one eye open and a very excited and affectionate toddler. (Or two!)
- You've prayed over baby food.
- You love it when your older nephew sings "Ba, ba, ba, amanna" at random.
- You call your younger nephew by the nicknames his older brother gave him.
- You can decipher "thank you", "God", and "amen" out of the toddler's speedy prayer. (He folds his hands!)
- You can cook one-armed so the nephews can "see, see food" every thirty seconds.
- You laugh when the older nephew feeds a guest his unwanted food hoping that in exchange the guest will give him the food he wants. (Sorry, little boy, your guest is toddler-wise.)
- You laugh (or try not to) when both boys scream after they've finished their first bites of cheesecake. (They found it too good to end.)
- You can play trucks or trains with equal skill.
- You hunt sippy cups almost daily.
- You see the same three board books often: "Hello, Ninja", "I'm a Big Brother Now!", and "Calliou Goes to the Park".
- You can hold conversation with someone who replies in only three recognizable words at a time. (Or if it's the baby just "oh, wow" and giggles.)
- You witness baby rivalry over the favored "bloon" [balloon].
- You can open baby food jars while under pressure from a baby who thinks he is starving.
- You absolutely melt when older nephew gives you thumbs-up.
- You marvel daily at the blessing God has given of the baby years.
Please note that this list is compiled from real, adorable happenings. ; )
Oh, the joys of nephews!!!!!!! I get called "Pew" by my nephews because that's my initials and it kind of sounds like "Pearl" too. They are always waking up in the morning having learned a new word or something else really cute! <3
