Snow-him, Snow-her, Snow-baby

When my Dad told us at the beginning of this month that we could participate in the Rosewood Handmade Craft Sale this year, we began to kick around ideas. Now, several weeks later we are starting to see the fruits of our labors and become very excited! I thought I would share some pictures of what we have been working on...

 

1. Anna crafted these delightful flower magnets from glue, magnets, scrapbooking paper, and her own imagination.

2. and 3. Bluebelle decided to make some cards and started with different colored squares glued down, before we cut out some things out for her. Then Mommy gave her the idea of making snowmen cards, and we ended up making a whole family. (We even invented our own terms: snowhim, snowher, and snowbaby.)

4. and 5. Since this summer, Pearl has been making crocheted bags for water bottles. Look at that row of bags!!

6. Paul has discovered what he can do with his scroll saw and Dremel--gift the world with amazing dollhouse furniture! He is currently working on cutting out chairs, staining another bed, and sewing linens for them all. Good job, Bro!

7. Aimee should be dubbed "The Earring Queen" with eleven gorgeous pairs of earrings. (Mom teases her by asking for almost every pair for Christmas.) : )

8. Anna's notebooks are coming along with more on the way. I love how each one is unique.

9. and 10. I've been enjoying making little girl's purses to sell. It's been so fun to dream up (or have Mom help dream up) each little one. : ) The pink one is actually a gift for one of my favorite little girls, but the purple one will be there. : )

11. And yes, there is crafting stuff everywhere and lots more products on their way including: silk flowers, paper flowers, Christmas cards, Christmas wreaths, and more of everything else I already mentioned.

 

One of the best parts about this has been seeing how some of the supplies we needed were already providentially here at home! It's been so much fun to work together, and I really must sign off now to go help out with some flowers that are waiting very patiently for me. Who else is coming to the craft sale? : )

Busy, Busy

It's been a busy day getting ready for church and a conference this
weekend. I'm currently cleaning up after making chocolate zucchini
muffins for the very first time. They look fabulous so far, and I can't
wait to taste one! Next on the list is finishing up dinner preparations,
finding out what I'm going to wear, and transferring pictures. : )
Looking forward to learning from God's word and spending time with new
friends this weekend!

Pounding, refreshing rain
The creativity rain inspires
Books, magazine back issues, coloring pages, sketches
The fabulous feast my younger siblings put together (complete with great
decorations!)
Storytime at dinner to celebrate...
Autumn!

Reenacting A Reenactment

We visited a Civil War reenactment a few weeks ago, and we were inspired.
Dressing our doll house dolls in the most authentic clothes we could find
(even using construction paper and tissue paper), we made paper tents and
set up our camp on a large piece of green felt. Of course, the point of
the reenactment we went to was the war, but we only played the most
domestic (and interesting) side. I thought you might enjoy seeing some
pictures of both events...

1. The battlefield stretched out before us.
2. The Tanker family talks to Mr. Withrow while they prepare to eat
dinner. (Each doll house family has a name, and some of the names stick
forever.) : )
3. My sister pushes her stroller past the camp.
4. Mrs. Withrow similarly takes care of her baby. There are mothers
everywhere!
5. We loved watching the cavalry--they were one of the coolest parts!
6. Avery admires the horses in the stable.
7. The Union flag flies high over one of the cutest tents.
8. Mrs. Roscoe (the doll I commonly play with!) gives Savannah
instructions while they set out dinner.
9. The soldiers came marching back to camp just in time for us to take a
few pictures before we left. So awesome!

That was a lot of fun! : )

Evenings at Home

I love evenings at home. Evenings when our family gathers together to
hear a story, watch an episode of "What's in the Bible?", share funny
stories with each other, or prepare for the next day's meals. Yesterday
evening I spent reading a story aloud to my sister while she soaked her
burned finger. (We had so much fun laughing over the silly parts in the
story.) Tonight I'm just generally hanging out and waiting for my brother
to work all the 'bugs' out of the stock market game he is programming so
I can play it. (I think he has it about perfect now!) I'm so grateful for
this family!

Another first for me (as an author) is that I sold my first copy on Amazon! Truly this is a great adventure, and I very grateful to everyone who is helping me along. : )

"Mom, I'm a Scientist!"

We were working on cooking dinner, and my littlest sister suddenly exclaimed, "Mom, I'm a scientist!" I asked her why, and she replied, "Because I just found something out." This whole day has been one of discovery for her. This afternoon she was sitting in a chair "reading" baby books aloud. She forgot how to say burrow, so instead the bunny lived in a bureau. : ) I told Mom about it, and she explained that my little scientist was "reading" baby books to practice so she could read the upcoming word problems in her math book. : ) So cute.
